Projects

Nature

Our nature‑focused work encourages residents to create healthier, more wildlife‑friendly spaces across Alwoodley. Throughout the year, we support households to add features that provide food, water and shelter, helping to build a connected network of small habitats that benefit local species. Community events allow people to share ideas, learn practical skills and see how ordinary gardens can contribute to biodiversity. Hands‑on nature days also help residents explore local green spaces and understand the wildlife living around them. Together, these activities strengthen community engagement with wildlife‑friendly gardening and long‑term biodiversity action.

Sustainable Food

Our sustainable food work supports residents in growing, sharing and celebrating locally produced fruit. Throughout the year, we help people develop the skills and confidence to grow their own food, from planting fruit trees to learning traditional techniques that keep local varieties thriving. Community activities bring people together to harvest, press and enjoy seasonal produce, strengthening awareness of where food comes from and how it can be used with minimal waste. These events build a culture of shared learning and resilience, encouraging long‑term engagement with community food growing and local sustainability.

Low Carbon Living

Our low‑carbon work helps residents make practical, confident steps toward reducing energy use and improving home efficiency. Throughout the year, we support households in understanding where heat is lost, how to make simple improvements and which changes offer the greatest long‑term benefit. Community sessions create space for people to ask questions, share experiences and learn hands‑on skills that make homes warmer and more efficient. Regular repair and reuse activities also encourage a shift away from throwaway culture.
